About the Highland Chronicle

The Highland Chronicle is a student-run, learning-based multimedia news organization that serves a district population of 91,000 from the northwest Illinois counties of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, and Stephenson. Consequently, The Highland Chronicle reaches an estimated 3,500-4,000 students each semester.  All of the articles, photographs and media posted on this site are created by students of Highland's Mass Communication classes. 

The Chronicle welcomes contributions. All submissions must include the author’s name and phone number. Anonymous submissions will not be accepted. Please e-mail submissions directly to the editor at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Submissions must be in Microsoft Word, .rtf, or .txt formats.

Opinion pieces, guest columns, articles, or any correspondence submitted to The Highland Chronicle may be published.

Guest Columns should be 500 words or fewer and should be on a topic of interest to members of the Highland Community. Please include a recent photo with guest column submissions.

Letters to the Editor should be 200 words or fewer. Preference is given to typed, concise letters. All letters are subject to editing for length or clarity. Writers are limited to one published letter per month. Letters must include the writer’s name, e-mail address, and phone number for confirmation.
